Academy Program
Futures Program
Spartanburg United Soccer Academy offers our Futures Program for U7 & U8 Boys & Girls players. The program is led by Nick Buxton and 2-3 assistants following our age specific created curriculum.
SUSA Futures will consist of two 75–90-minute training session per week and games on weekends. Training in a large group setting led by the coaches in stations. Players will be split into smaller groups to allow more individual focus from the coaches and allow the entire age group to be developing and learning the same topics together.
The focus will be on individual player development of their foot-skills and an understanding of basic decision-making during competition. Players will have the maximum touches on the ball possible in this small-sided environment. Youth players cannot develop without touching the ball constantly.
Games will be a mixture of small-sided matches of 5v5 and 7v7 in Spartanburg and Greenville. Teams will participate in 1 tournament in the fall and 1 in the spring.
Spartanburg United is dedicating some of our best resources to our youngest players to set the foundation for their future at the Club. The future is even brighter!
Jr Academy Program
The Junior Academy Program expects increased commitment from its players in time and effort and players are encouraged to practice their skills at home. Players must attend practices and games in order to remain in the program as they are not optional.
All players must attend Evaluations in order to be placed on a team of the appropriate level to stimulate his/her development. This is a “tryout” process resulting in an opportunity for players, parents, and coaches to assess the suitability of the program to the player’s stage of development and determine proper placement in either the Academy or Recreation program.
