Spartanburg United Soccer Academy Select Program
The Select Program is designed for players who are committed to competing at a higher level while continuing their development. It provides a more demanding and performance driven environment, where players are expected to train with intensity, take responsibility for their growth, and apply their skills consistently in competitive situations.
Program Director
Fred Bertha (Select Director)
- Professional, US Soccer licensed coaches
- Delivered through a structured and developmentally appropriate curriculum
Program Entry
- All players must attend evaluations
- Placement is based on ability, attitude, and readiness
- Selection into teams is determined by the coaching staff
Program Structure
Training Format
- Two to four training sessions per week
- Games on weekends
Training Environment
- High intensity and competitive sessions
- Focus on decision making and execution under pressure
- Emphasis on understanding the game on the ball, near the ball, and away from the ball
Game Format
- Full sided competition appropriate to age group
- Players compete against strong opposition
Competition
- League play and competitive matches
- Participation in tournaments and events
- Travel required depending on level of play
